Access to Library functions is controlled according to the permissions assigned to the user’s account.

Users with the appropriate permissions may be able to:

  • Create and manage book records.
  • Manage physical book inventory.
  • Create and manage shelf locations.
  • Create and manage book categories.
  • Generate book barcodes.
  • Issue books to library members.
  • Process returned books.
  • Generate library reports.

Because library inventory represents physical school resources, users should ensure that book information, barcodes, locations, availability statuses, and borrowing records are entered accurately.

Users responsible for issuing or returning books should verify the relevant information before completing the transaction.

Summary

The Library Management module provides an integrated environment for managing the school’s library resources and circulation activities.

The Books Management function provides the main catalogue for maintaining information such as book titles, authors, publishers, ISBNs, categories, and subjects.

The Library Inventory function extends the catalogue by allowing individual physical copies to be registered with unique barcodes, physical locations, and availability statuses.

The Library Shelves and Book Categories functions provide the supporting structure required to organize physical library locations and classify books.

The Borrowed Books function manages the circulation of library resources by recording members, borrowing periods, expected return dates, actual return dates, and return statuses.

The Barcode Generator provides a structured method for generating barcode labels that can be assigned to physical book copies.

Finally, Library Inventory Reports provides reporting capabilities for reviewing inventory, borrowed books, and missing books.

Together, these functions provide authorized users with a centralized system for cataloguing, organizing, tracking, issuing, returning, and reporting on school library resources
